One of Europe’s most celebrated snowboarding areas, Val d’Isre boasts 487 kilometers of marked pistes. The skiing gets going during mid November and stops in the start of May. The purpose built French village provides everything for you. The town stretches along the vale from La Daille up to Le Fornet with the focus and the apres ski in the centre Val d’Isere. The clustering of cute houses incorporate dapper dress shops most of which have arisen since Val d’Isere was chosen for the Winter Olympics in 1992.
Broken into 3 different parts the town has many ski able slopes for all skiers. With a cracking snow record, the domain is hugely popular amidst pro skiers and boarders and mileage hungry intermediates, but you don’t have to be particularly experienced to love what is there. It’s easy to why a lot of English are pulled in to the village, with its crazy apres ski and the wide variety of amusement on offer, moreover the near proximity of Tignes permits you to venture out to less busy areas if it all gets too much.
Pros
A superior night out in France. Everybody talks English. Comfortable access to Val d’Isre and Tignes known collectively as the the Espace Killy skiing area. Easily accessible from Geneva airport. There’s lots of vehicles and whilst there are frequent buses in the day, devoted apres skiers should aim to be within walking distance of the town centre.
Cons
Costly. Busy and popular with the English, so not for holiday makers anticipating a classic French ski town to enjoy a stress free trip. Numerous ski lifts can shut in bad weather. A few tricky blue and green slopes.
