Sonnets For Rain
02.28.09 | Comments Off

{to Rain Paggao, a bandmate, a best friend, and the brother I never had}

*Rain*

Your brilliant words were magical;
They always lit my mind.
Your simplest thoughts, sublime, divine;
They’d borne my spirits high.
In mirth or pain, in loss or gain,
Your songs poured forth like rain.
Not once before when we were young,
I found myself in drought;
You always poured like real rain,
‘nriching me in delight.
And now from you I’m far away,
My friend, I miss you so.
Friendship built on brotherly love
Till old age may it last.

*Moon*

When you were Sun while I was Moon,
To us it mattered not.
The light you cast upon my path
Has never made me blind;
For you possess a noble soul,
Which Pride can never touch.
The words like rays your pen did shine
Illuminated mine.
The songs you made, the hopes you gave
Are always in my heart.
When ’twas my turn to be the sun,
As Moon you did your part.
Whoever’s Sun or Moon, I know,
To us it matters not.

*Star*

So many bards did sing of stars,
Whose beauty they could see.
The chords you strummed on your guitar
Had always brought me glee.
The words I wove, the tunes you plucked
They blendedharmony!
Among the stars our songs retired;
They twinkle when I’m sad.
I know, stars, in reality,
Are but a burning gas.
Despite that, you remain to be
The brightest I can see.
A starthat’s what you’ll always be,
Forever ‘nspiring me!

*Rainbow*

In various hues you came to me
In times when I was blue.
December then, remember when
Oh, what a rendezvous!
I awed you with my Cure attire;
In turn, you stunned me, too:
Your licks and tricks on your guitar
The start of something New
Wave. Music has made us brothers,
Set us on a journey,
Which changed our lives forever more.
How colorful it was!
Among the many friends I have…
The rainbow smiled at you.

My Love

MY LOVE (English translation of “MAHAL KO”)

Where are you
Lovely love
I’m getting dizzy
In trying to look for you, baby

Why are you hiding from me?
Why are you running away from me?

Is what I’m offering not enough?
Is what I’m giving you too scarce?
Are you just being emotional?
Come and we will fix this

Have I done anything that hurt you?
Have I said something you didn’t like?

Whatever it is
I apologize
You know very well that I love you
And that to hurt you makes me feel blue

World Wide Glaciers Are Retreating at a Quickening Pace
02.25.09 | Comments Off

Around the world glaciers are retreating at a speedier pace than at any period since measurements were started, states The Express. Glaciologists from the Glacier Monitoring Service, which records 28 glaciers across 11 mountain areas, calculate that from 1849 to 1968 glaciers retreated at a median pace of 32 centimetres a yr.. In between 1969 to 2003 losses jumped to 55 to 90 cm per year. Since then the avg. has constituted greater than 1m a year. And last year recorded the highest reductions up til now of 1.3 m.

Worldwide glaciers are withdrawing least ways as fast as those glaciers in this small sample with potentially fateful outcomes for nearby villages. In the immediate future there will be many more deluges, and in the long term, rivers could dry out, meaning keen water shortages.

Chamonix Mont Blanc, has a great amount of glaciers, the consequences of climate change and the retreating of glaciers could be keenly experienced. Perhaps this is why a lot of shops, and locals seem to be more knowledgeable of these topics so are therefore essaying to take steps to limit their use of energy. One hopes it isn’t too little too late to halt the results of global warming and insure an environment for our children. So think about how you travel when you go to your ski accommodations.

Fatal PR: Mistakes Authors Make on Their Campaigns
02.25.09 | Comments Off

Any author who is driving their own PR campaign knows that often times marketing and media can be an uphill battle. Many times authors are pitching and promoting themselves with minimal results. It can be tedious and frustrating and sometimes lead them to make fatal PR mistakes that can cost them their campaign.

One of the first, and potentially most fatal, is thinking that one or two media appearances are going to wing your book into the bestseller spotlight. Media works when it’s done consistently and often it takes months, and in some cases years, for you to reach your own “PR payoff.” The most important part of a campaign is the author’s ability to stick with it. Most of the interviews you see nationally on shows like Good Morning America and Oprah, started with a regional buzz. Build your base (or buzz) in your own back yard first and then start getting your message out on a national level. And this leads us to our second PR mistake: ignoring regional or trade media. Sometimes when you’re promoting yourself it’s easy to get caught up in going after the big fish, but don’t ignore the smaller regional and niche publications, they can be a gold mine of PR and really help to get the buzz going.

Next on our list of fatal PR mistakes is the technique with which authors pitch themselves. First and foremost you want to make sure you’re pitching the right people, don’t just go after a “producer,” find the producer that’s right for the story. And be cautious of when you pitch, before you start calling the media, turn on your TV or radio and see if there’s a breaking news story. There’s no quicker way to offend your media target then pitching them a story when they’re scrambling to cover a plane crash or some other major disaster.

As you’re navigating through your PR campaign you’ll also want to make sure your pitches are focused and relevant. It’s much easier to get the attention of the media when you’re pitching them something that’s already on their radar screen. For example remember when you’re putting together your campaign to keep an eye out for seasonal or news spins to your topic. If, let’s say, you are discussing the topic of depression, you might want to pitch it around a nationally designated “depression awareness day” or, perhaps, given all the buzz around college kids and depression, you might want to tackle this as a back-to-school issue. Targeted, focused pitches are the best way to get the media to notice you, so open that calendar or read your local newspaper to find out what’s hot and top of mind. Also, respect their time when you’re pitching. Get to the point, don’t ramble and remember that this is not about you, it’s about the benefits to their readers, viewers, or listeners and mo! st of all, never, ever, ever sell your book. You should always sell yourself and your expertise. Producers and editors will be looking for the WIIFM factor behind your pitch (what’s in it for me) not how they can showcase your book.

Finally there’s no quicker way to end your campaign than to over promise, stretching the truth, or not being reliable. If you miss an interview or over promise on a commitment one time, you can kiss any further media goodbye. Word travels fast in the industry and bad news travels even faster. Remember be patient, be persistent, and be professional and you’re bound to get the media you deserve and keep your campaign alive and well!

Garden Sheds Need Not Be Too Pricey if You Buy on the Internet and Take Advantage of the Wide Selection
02.25.09 | Comments Off

There are a lot of sound reasons why you might require a shed and luckily there are sheds to match just about every requirement. Cheap sheds may be bought just about all over but what you will see is the price will vary tremendously. You should not have to give up the garden shed you want because it is excessively high-priced though. A garden shed is something you buy once and utilize for a long time and if you have a look on-line you can discover Cheap garden sheds at some silly prices. I don’t mean silly and cheap as in quality but as in cost. You may find you can have the shed you want for the price of the one you were about to settle for much less and if you possess a garden that you tend to every day you will most in all probability want to look into a wooden shed as a place to place the tools, fertilizer, water hose and so forth.

Looking after your tools and having them easily accessible is a real good idea. You can find cheap reliable sheds on the internet that are the identical sheds you’d purchase in the store. As A Matter Of Fact, you can even go to the store and shop even touch them to see if it is what you need and then you can go online and purchase it for a whole lot less. The difference in price is significant!

Does Your Theme Contain Character, Conflict, Resolution?
02.23.09 | Comments Off

Creative Writing Tips -

For a theme to work and the story, which will revolve around the theme, it has to contain three things…

  1. Character
  2. Conflict
  3. Resolution

What’s the reason for this?

If your theme doesn’t contain these three essential elements, then you won’t be writing a proper short story. It might turn out to be an essay instead.

Because without…

1) Characters

You can’t achieve emotional depth. Readers become engrossed in stories because of the characters in them. They either become the character (sympathize), or read about an interesting person (empathize).

Emotional depth is achieved when readers use their imagination and senses and/or experiences to live the story through the characters.

2) Conflict

Your story will be boring. Why? Without conflict, something to stir things up, nothing happens. And a story, in which nothing happens, is one not worth writing about.

Your characters don’t lead carefree lives. Well, not in the instance you are writing about them. In that part of their lives they are faced with a problem. They want something and can’t get it because of the conflict, which is preventing them to do so.

And it’s that conflict and the struggle the characters has to undergo that keeps us readers interested and in suspense. Will the character succeed or won’t he? And when is this all going to happen? And how is it all going to happen?

3) Resolution

Something that starts has to finish, one way or another.

Once you have created great characters, which the reader will come to care about, and you have placed them in conflict, that conflict at the end of your story has to be resolved. The characters will achieve their goals or they won’t.

That doesn’t matter.

You can end your story as you please and as it suits your story - but you have to end it. Ending the story means resolving the conflict.

Does your theme contain character, conflict, resolution?

Recycle Mobiles at Tesco
02.20.09 | Comments Off

In Britain an urgent announcement was made today relating to the use of recycling process to enhance the environmental conditions. More than forty million handsets are used all over the country and less than five percent of waste products are recycled. This process will benefit the environment by preserving useful products and preventing the exhaustion of the supply of elements.

Tesco, with a customer base of thirteen million people have agreed to support the working of the “recycle” mechanism. The entire range of office phone system and residential phones are manufactured with the extractable components of gold and palladium. The elements can be recycled to be installed in another device.

Companies like “Mopay” are working on the process of recycling but the major function has been provided to the company of “XS Tronics”. The company has undertaken a huge toll of recycling almost a million handsets in the first year. Tesco guarantees a distribution of the major amount of profit to the charitable trusts as an important social responsibility.

Tony Manwaring has commented that the process of recycling would benefit the society tremendously by improving the status of the environment. The processes related to the green issues are considered to be included in the clauses of the European Union Law.

Article Writing Errors
02.19.09 | Comments Off

Having trouble writing articles? Here’s my list of some
common mistakes that writers make.

Not being a writer - This is the number one mistake that
writers make. If you are a writer, then you had better be
writing. You cannot publish what you don’t write. Don’t talk
about what you are going to write, don’t discuss your articles
before writing them, and don’t spend endless hours trying to
find people to purchase your articles. Just write: query
letters and articles. Write them fast and furious. That’s
what a writer does.

Not writing constantly - If you call yourself a writer, then
you had better be writing. In fact, you should be writing
constantly, every single day if you can. What do you write?
Write an article on something, anything, that you feel you
can write about.

Giving into writer’s block - You can defeat writer’s block.
You are a writer, so write. Can’t write? Just start writing
and don’t worry about what comes out.

Re-writing too many times - Some writers like to edit and
rewrite an article over and over again. Personally, I write
a pretty good article the first time and one quick edit
usually finishes it up. Some people need a few more edits.
But don’t over edit. Your job is to communicate words
and concepts on paper, not edit them to death.

Not editing enough - No matter how good your first drafts are,
be sure and look it over at least once for spelling mistakes
and grammar errors.

Plagiarizing - It’s perfectly okay to get ideas from other
articles, books, movies, and even television shows. It’s not
okay to steal another writers work, and it’s also not
acceptable to paraphrase an article. You can quote from other
sources (this is called “fair use”) but you cannot make
other’s work your own.Talking about an article before writing
it - I know of very few people who can talk about an article
concept with another person and then successfully write that
article later. Writing is communicating on paper (or on a
computer), not talking about what you want to write.

Asking people if your writing is “okay” - If you are taking a
class in writing, then this is a fine thing to do. Otherwise,
I wouldn’t bother trying to get criticism from anyone except
a professional editor. Before I learned this lesson, I
stopped writing more articles than I can count simply because
of others tearing my work apart. Now, I don’t ask for or
accept criticism on my works, unless it’s from a professional
editor to whom I am attempting to sell one of my articles. It
is acceptable to get criticism from one’s agent, as that is
one of the tasks that an agent is paid to do.

Worrying about what to write about - Don’t worry about what
to write: just write. That’s what writers do, they write.
There is no need to waste time to find a subject or something
that will sell or anything else. Just pick something you know
well and write about it.

Not using query letters - If you really want to get your
articles published, you need to be sending out dozens of query
letters every single day. How is this done? Simply pick up your
most recent copy of Writer’s Market, pick a magazine or other
publisher, think of an idea they might be interested in, and
write a letter pitching that idea to the magazine (or other)
editor. Be sure to follow the guidelines given by the magazine
(you can get this from Writer’s Market, on the web or by
sending a request to the publication). You may only get one
bite out of a hundred, but if you don’t ask you won’t get any
at all.

Why use query letters instead of writing articles? Writing an
article can take a significant amount of time. It’s wise to
find an editor who is at least marginally interested before
taking the time to write a full article. Query letters must be
written fast and often to be effective.

Writing in someone else’s style - You are a unique individual
with your own talents, faults, goals, objectives, abilities
and characteristics. You also have your own unique writing
style. Be yourself when you write; if you are someone else
(and you write like someone else) you will never make the big
times. This does not mean you shouldn’t experiment with
different writing styles; it means you should make each style
your own as you write.

Asking other writers for advice - This is fine if you are
taking a class taught by a writer. In most other instances,
unless the writer is a good friend, you have to understand
that other writers are competitors. Unless they are very
ethical, it’s very likely they may be trying to discourage you
or move you away from their own preferred market.

Keeping poor records - Create a record-keeping system and
stick to it. There is little more embarrassing (or time-
wasting) than sending out the same article twice (or more) to
the same editor who rejected it the first time.

Not treating writing as a business - Keep good records of
expenses and income, and treat it all as important and vital.
You have to pay taxes and you may need to account for any
money. Also, expenses (and even your home office) are often
write-offs on taxes.

Not checking facts and doing proper research - Getting a fact
wrong now and again won’t kill you, but it does effect your
credibility. Get major facts wrong too often, and you may find
that you cannot sell anything anymore.

Not handling copyright infringement - If someone steals your
work without compensation, handle it fast and efficiently.
Talk nicely, then not so nicely, then call in the lawyers.
You own the copyright, so enforce it.
